About Us

Bob Hale, Owner and Principal Usability Designer

A devoted student of life and tireless globe trekker, Bob is always seeking out new experiences and perspectives to enhance his understanding of life and improve the lives of others by bringing a creative, strategic approach to every project. Bob derives the most pleasure from making authentic connections, watching others light up when they learn something new and helping others realize their potential.


Bob is founder and principal of the Customer Experience/Usability consulting firm, Usable Research and Consulting (URC) based in the United States. URC conducts domestic and international research in Europe, South America and North America. URC employs a variety of usability and UX research techniques, ranging from persona creation and customer experience design workshops to concept testing and eye tracking research.


Bob works with his clients to develop insightful research and design ideas that fuel the creation of compelling, relevant and effective customer experiences. Bob’s emphasis is on helping brand owners and marketing executives design products/services in the most desirable, useful and usable way. 


He has worked with the likes of Hewlett Packard, Limited Brands, Bath & Body Works, Express, Wal-Mart, Restoration Hardware, Wendy’s, BMW, Nationwide Insurance and Medco Health.


Bob’s formal education is in Human Factors Engineering – cognitive psychology, anthropometry, biomechanics, communication and product/interface design. Bob has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in website usability and information architecture at The Ohio State University, Wright State and Columbus State.
